By February, the year has found its rhythm. The anticipation and promise of January has eased into something quieter and more meaningful: the steady work of becoming. The days become longer, early flowers begin to push through the earth. This is often the moment when growth stops feeling theoretical and starts feeling real—shaped by hard work and the results that comes from steady effort.
If you’ve been part of the Women’s Leadership Connection (WLC) community for a while, you know we love to help you ask yourself big questions, particularly as the new year starts: How are you growing as a leader? Who supports you? What skills will help you thrive next? How will you turn your insight into action?
Last year, we turned those questions inward.
At the end of 2025, WLC took an important step forward by becoming an independent, stand-alone nonprofit. After more than a decade under the stewardship of the SOU Foundation, we felt ready for the next chapter—one that gives us greater flexibility to grow, adapt, and serve our community for the long term.
To be clear, the current WLC board could not have taken this leap without the strength and trust of this community – all of YOU – behind us. Every godmother, past board member, volunteer, sponsor, donor, and participant helped build the foundation that made this moment possible.
For you, very little will change. Our mission, programs, and commitment to connection remain the same. What has changed is our ability to grow with you—more nimbly, more intentionally, and with a clearer path forward.
As we move deeper into the year, we’re grateful to keep holding space for growth—for us all.
Warmly,
Katie Baldassar and Andrea Partsafas, WLC Board and Sponsorships Committee
