In 2026, we are launching the fourth cohort of the WLC Mentorship Program. During the past few years the program has evolved, but the core remains the same: connect successful women to those looking to improve in their career and life. The success of the program has been dependent on matching what the mentees feel they want with what the mentors believe they can provide. These have not always been exactly what the mentees thought they would request, but ultimately the results have proven to be what they needed.
Each year we have a final gathering where our mentors and mentees discuss what has worked and what they would change. Repeatedly we have heard the same types of comments:
“The connection with my mentor has been more than I could ever have expected.”
“I had so many things I thought I could accomplish all at once, my mentor helped me define my goals and break them down to something realistic.”
“My mentor helped me develop the confidence to ask for a promotion, and I got it!”
Through this process, we’ve learned a lot about our mentor and mentee needs as well. This past year, each of our mentees seemed to be facing a major transition in their lives. Our program has largely been goal-based, but we have also met the challenge of guiding mentors and mentees through the program without a solid goal in place. In some ways, it was our most successful year ever. Mentees changed jobs, started new careers, took on new challenges, and networked with one another throughout. Mentors gently guided and celebrated their mentee successes. Our committee came together and formed a solid core for the future of the program.
So now what? It is time to roll out 2026. We would like to expand the program and for that we need not just and amazing group of mentors and mentees, but could use a few volunteers willing to be a support to them. If this is you—or if you’d like to become a mentor or a mentee—please sign up today!
